Hotel Mont Vernon offers the essential Caribbean experience with a touch of European flair. Laced by concrete paths, fieldstone steps, and flowering bushes, the resort occupies 70 acres atop and down the sides of a steep hill called Mont Vernon. Families and couples come for the sea breezes, the panoramic ocean views, the separation from Orient Beach's crowded areas, and the ambience of wide-open spaces and endless light. The northern tip of 1.5-mile-long Orient Beach lies at the bottom of the hotel's hillside. The hotel supplies complimentary kayaks, bodysurfing boards, and snorkeling gear, with equipment for other watersports available from beach vendors 500 yards south of the hotel. Next to the beach, a 140-foot-long freeform pool surrounded by a wood deck furnished with cushioned lounges and featuring long wood-shingle shade cabanas contains a children's section.

After a day strolling along the fabulous white sand beach, cool off with a dip in the largest freshwater pool on the island, or choose from fun watersports, games, daily programmed activities, kid's club, live entertainment, and much more. La Creole - Located off the lobby at the top of the hill, seating is in an enclosed courtyard and in an open-air dining room. Buffet or a la carte menus, depending on hotel's occupancy, serves International cuisine.
Le Sloop - Located adjacent to beach and pool at the bottom of the hill. Casual, open-air bar and restaurant with wood floor and peaked wood ceiling. Open for lunch daily. Buffet or a la carte menu, depending on hotel's occupancy, serves International cuisine. Bar open until early evening.

370 spacious guest suites in 10 pastel buildings with pale-green corrugated-steel roofs and fretwork and other trim in pink, blue, and green. Buildings rise three or five stories and do not contain elevators, but the hillside on which they are arrayed is steep enough to ensure that a walkway leads to each level. (One building is an exception: top-floor guests have to walk up one flight of steps.)

Suites feature balconies or ground-floor patios furnished with chairs and tables. Decor includes rattan furniture colored pink, green, or brown, white ceilings and walls, white-tile floors, bright tropical-print fabrics, and bathrooms with pink-tile stall showers (no tubs). Each suite is also equipped with air-conditioning, small refrigerator and satellite TV. Smoking is permitted in all rooms.
