Resort Information
Set in a lush tropical garden and just steps from the sea,
The Sugar Mill is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the British Virgin Islands.
The Sugar Mill's twenty four rooms are set among the restored ruins of a 17th Century sugar plantation. Here you can enjoy spectacular sunsets in the tranquil ambience of the tree-shaded alfresco gazebo terrace.
The beach is protected by a natural reef, providing fascinating viewing for snorkelers. Fresh water swimming pool, nestled among swaying palm trees is a refreshing alternative.
Because the hotel is geared to personalized service, there are many activities and options. Packages are available that feature a gourmet picnic for lunch on a nearby mountain trail or a full day sail to outlying islands with lunch and drinks. Daytime dives or a resort course, plus two shallow dives, are offered for beginners. All types of excursions can be arranged through the concierge, which will take care of all your needs - from a rental car to a gourmet picnic, windsurfing to daysailing.
This secluded cottage colony sweeps down the hillside to its own little beach, with vibrant flowers and fruits brightening the grounds. Plain but comfortable apartments climb up the hillside.
Dining:
Sugar Mill Restaurant - Candle lit dinners, with a menu that changes nightly, are served in the hotel's award-winning dining room which has been restored from the stone and coral ruins of a 370 year old sugar mill and has a tropical garden that brings the outside inside, a very romantic setting. The walls are all restored from the original stone and coral and lend an atmosphere of complete intimacy. This main dining room was once the boiling house for a rum distillery. The copper boiling cauldron, that now forms the waterfalland pond area of the restaurant's garden, is the original used to convert the sugar cane into rum. The still that was used is situated near the steps leading to the gazebos near the front of the area. The Washington Post claims that Sugar Mill Restaurant is "...the islands" best restaurant.
Breakfast is served on the terrace where you can enjoy a view of neighboring islands and lunch is available at the beach restaurant "Islands" where the menu presents dishes from all corners of the Caribbean.
