Resort Information
Comprising 65 18th and 19th-century buildings, the
Hotel Kura Hulanda Curacao is part of a restored Dutch Colonial village on the Otrobanda side of Willemstad -a UNESCO World Heritage site that also includes an anthropological/cultural museum, a center of cultural studies, and a contemporary conference center. Guests come for restful, traffic-free holidays in a tranquil setting of narrow lanes and garden courtyards.
Two pools are tucked away in quiet garden courtyards. The two-level Eco Pond is a 100-foot-long, waterfall-fed, grotto-pool lined by natural rock formations. The Bolivar Pool is a free-form pool measuring about 50 by 30 feet. Adjacent is a 15-foot-diameter children's pool. Cushioned lounge chairs supply sunbathing comfort.
In Curaçao's Papiamento language, Kurá Hulanda means "Dutch courtyard." Appropriately, narrow paving-stone lanes winding through the village lead to courtyards shaded by thickly leaved trees and dense gardens, each space suffused with afternoon music from a discreet high-tech sound system. Musicians play six nights weekly in the hotel's central square.
A three-room, lavender-scented health spa offers massage, reflexology, body scrubs and wraps, and nail care. A beauty salon provides hair care. An air-conditioned fitness center contains cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights, a large sauna, a large steam room, and marble-lined locker rooms with showers.
A 24-hour business center has three computers with complimentary high-speed Internet access. Cellular telephones can be rented at the front desk.
