Resort Information
With an emphasis on sailing and watersports,
Bitter End draws active families seeking a tranquil holiday free of television, air-conditioning, and automobiles. The resort is set on 75 acres of steep, green hillside and one mile of ocean shoreline. The main section resembles a Caribbean seaside village, with multicolored buildings, gingerbread trim, and corrugated red-steel roofs.
In addition to its complimentary watercraft fleet, the resort offers a mile-long, gently curved oceanfront featuring three beaches, each furnished with cushioned, weathered-teak lounge chairs. One beach, protected from Atlantic Ocean breezes, has calm water ideal for swimming. Another beach offers windsurfing and snorkeling. The resort's swimming pool is bordered by a sundeck with canopy shades.
Video movies, usually beginning with a children's selection, are shown nightly in an open-air theater. Complimentary children's arts-and-crafts activities are hosted in an open-air thatched-roof hut Monday-Friday. Computers in the main building provide dial-up Internet access (fee charged). Within the resort are clothing boutiques, arts-and-crafts shops, and a store offering wine, liquor, snack foods, and baked goods. The resort's marina includes 70 moorings and 14 slips as well as a fuel dock, electric hookups, a chandlery, and private showers and toilets dockside.
