Question: What are some souvenirs to get from the Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico?

Question Description:
I'm going on a cruise and want to make sure I get souvenirs that each country is known for. I plan on getting Cruzan Rum and something key lime from Key West and Jamaican coffee and rum from Jamaica but besides tequila, I'm not sure what to get from Cayman Islands and Cozumel.

Answer#1: I can only answer from Grand Cayman as I use to live there, you can always shop in Georgetown at the Duty Free shops, they have hand blown glass items that are made right there in the store, you can bring home some Great Tortuga Rum cake, your classic T-shirts and shorts that say cayman islands, Photos from the great photograher with all underwater shots. Jewerly, Pirate coins, remember everything is duty free.

Answer#2: Well when your in Grand Cayman dotn get turtles they are famous for that because they ahve turtle farms and stuff and they are adorable creatures and everything but they are illegal coming back to the United States so I would stay far away from that but t-shirts are always a good idea I mean becuase you can always wear them and odnt have to worry about replacing them and so on and Cozumel has all sort of thigns but just look around in shops and stuff and you might find something you like but go with the SHIP RECOMMENDED shops and they save you money and dont forget the jewelry as it can be so much cheaper down their like hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars cheaper.

Answer#3: Please keep away from buying Coral as this is very commonly on sale in the island. The Coral Reefs are being destroyed by over tourism and people breaking it off to keep and sell. Nearly all of the Coral near the shores of the Cozumel have been destroyed and I have seen this first hand.Coral has taken thousands of years to grow and develop and it will not obviously grow back overnight.I know that is not exactly the answer you were looking for but wouldn't it be nice for generations to come to be able go snorkling and diving and appreciate this wonderful creation.

Answer#4: I can answer for Coz, have been there alot. You can get any kind of the typical Mexican tourist junk there. You can get some nice turquoise jewelry there for a decent price. My favorite place is on the main road just north of the ferry's. They have a huge variety of all kinds of silver jewelry and are probably open now after extensive hurricane damage. Also on the far south and middle side of the town square there is a place where a guy makes black coral jewelry, you can watch, very nice stuff and not all that expensive. There is great food at the out of the way type places, the touristy places are disappointing, La Choza is great. I also like Al Morena for seafood. As far as the uninformed post under mine. The last hurricane did more damage to the reef than divers could do in ten thousand years. It literally sandblasted the reef. Divers are not allowed to touch the reef, anyone who brings anything onto a boat is going to get a talking to.

Answer#6: HERPES?

Answer#7: Bring back bronze men.
