Question: Which is more favorable as a honeymoon destination: Cancun, Mexico or Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic???

Question Description:
My fiancee and I are deciding on where to go for our honeymoon. We won a contest and the prize was a 2 night 3 day trip to either Cancun, Mexico or Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Both of us had never been to either place and would like to get your opinion about those two cities and whether you would recommend either one for a honeymoon. We really want our honeymoon to be special and would appreciate any help. Thanks

Answer#1: For sure Cancun and the area south of the city. It is very safe , the peope are very friendly and you will have lots to do - IF you have time :0) Actually, be sure to make sometime to see a pyramid at least!! The best closest to Cancun is Coba. Forget Talum - too touristy. You could take one of the days and do Coba and Xel Hai and swim with the fish.Have fun and be safe.

Answer#2: I have been to both. I think Cancun Mexico has great beaches, restaurants, and many things to see and do. I hope you will add some more days to the trip you won. 2 nights is not enough in either country.Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Happy travels

Answer#3: I think the beaches in Cancun are nicer. As for which one is better overall, I think a lot would depend on the resort. Hopefully you can find both resorts on the sites below and read what people who have stayed there had to say about them.Enjoy your honeymoon.
