Question: Is the Dominican Republic part of the U.S.?
Question Description:
We were going to take a trip to Puerto Rico
because i knew it was part of the U.S. but i was
checking our itinerary and it says we are going to
Punta Cana which is in The Domincan Republic. So I
was just wondering if that is still part of the
United States, and if i will need a pasport to get
there.

Answer#6: No its not part of the US. Due to the delay on
behalf of the govt, to travel to the caribean you
dont need a passport, but you do need a receipt
showing that you tried to get it. I highly suggest
you go get one now, and make sure you pay the
extra $60 to have it expedited. My boyfriend and I
are going to Costa Rica in August and we were
lucky enough to get our passports in 3 weeks, but
that was only because we paid the extra cash. Go
to the continental airline website and it will
give you helpful info.

state department website for information about the
US and other countries passport requirements.
There has been some leniancy this summer due to
the inability of the state department in
processing the flood of passport requests.
