Question: Anyone here taken their young children to the Caribbean? We're thinking Dom Rep or Jamaica/similar.?

Question Description:
We're restricted to the summer holidays and were going for Cyprus but for a few hundred pounds more we can a couple of weeks All Inclusive in a 4 star in the Dominican Republic, and a couple of hundred pounds more for Jamaica. What I would like to know is if you've taken young children there, if there's enough for them to do, if you can recommend particular areas/hotels etc. Thanks.

Answer#1: Typically when ever you travel around the world unfortunately there are those of lesser means looking to improve their lifestyle by praying upon those who are much better off. Our prisons are full of them. I love the Caribbean, including Jamaica. If you stay in an all-inclusive resort there is no need to leave their grounds. There are several fantastic resorts of this type. Go to www.dobsonsvacations.com, than on the top right, click on Book Travel, once on this page, scroll down to the bottom and there are numerous suggestions. Have fun and enjoy. We work hard and vacations are fantastic. I know from experience.

Answer#2: My wife and I traveled with another couple with children to the Riviera Maya region in Mexico. The resort, The Palladium Festival Grande, had a wonderful 'kids camp' that seemed to keep them occupied. There are also several day trips that were suitable for children. It is a great value as well. It was about $2200 for us all inclusive. I do not know exactly what our friends paid.By the way, I think 'Private' has some baggage on the issue. I have not found that to be the case with the exception of certain parts of Jamaica

Answer#3: i went in 2005 to dom rep had a great time took my exs son he was 9 years old at the time he enjoyed it we stayed at club on the green playa dorda and there was akids club and plenty for kids to do and safe and worth the money went with discount holidayt centre i prefar top pay more and go alll inslusiv eto the carribeen u have a great holiday and take care enjoy the break and all the best good luck

Answer#4: The carribean islands are dirty and unsafe.what you see in the brochures are merely the aesthetically pleasing images and are not representative of the holiday experience as a whole. You are advised not to leave the compounds for fear of rape, mugging and murder. What kind of holiday is that?
