Answer#1: Depends what youre looking for, Negril has best
beaches but Ocho Rios is alot busier, too busy for
me, we went to Royal Decameron in Runaway Bay
lovely friendly holiday but only 3 star, Gran
Bahia looks as though its going to be great but
only just opened so still a few teething problems
Answer#2: I've been to both. I don't ever want to go back
to Ocho Rios. The resort that I stayed at was
pretty good and the food was awesome but the
beaches in Negril are 1000% better. The sunsets
are the best there too especially from Rick's
Cafe. Its on a rock outcrop with a small cliff
diving spot. Just watch out if you stay late and
have to park far away - don't be surprised if
someone will want to collect a fee for watching
out for your car. This is a problem throughout.
Ocho Rios is not a town for walking around either.
The main tourist shopping area is surrounded by
barbed wire if that gives you an idea. Negril is
not as nearly as bad. Take a Juta bus to either
place or even a cab. They're both long trips from
the Montego Bay airport though but pretty drives.
The only thing that I didn't like in Negril is
that if you're not on a resort with a guarded
beach then the locals will drive you nuts all day
trying to sell you either ganja or cornrow weaves
but don't take a pass on the fresh pineapples.
Answer#3: Trip Advisor is an excellent source as long as you
find and click the correct link, I know it can be
annoying at time....!I'm getting married in
Jamaica 2008, and the best hotels that have been
advised to me, and by looking on trip advisor
are:Rose Hall Country Club - Montego BaySunset
Grande Resort - Ocho Rios.I haven't had any one
recommend Negril, but I doubt you can go wrong
with Jamaica in general. It would also depend if
you have children, or did you want a couples only
resort..?!The Palms resort looks great....! I will
have to look at the one for myself now! lol
Answer#4: Negril is beautiful, very quiet but so
picturesque.
