Question: Is Montego Bay Jamaica a safe place to visit?

Question Description:
I am staying at a private resort but I heard they had a high murder rate there?

Answer#1: Yes, if you pay attention to where you are. Just say "no" if asked to buy drugs, they will leave you alone. The flea markets are fun, but at first a bit intimidating, just stick together in 2 or more people groups, and you will have fun, you can really deal" if you try. I have been to Jamaica 16 times, and live 30 miles from Chicago, feel safer in Jamaica than alot of Chicago. Just use your head. You will love it. Try Ocho Rios area too.

Answer#2: If you are staying at one of the resorts they will run trips out to the sites from the resort. The country side is really beautiful but the cities can be a little scary. 99% of the people there are really friendly...far more than the people in the States. Personally, I would stick to the resort or take one of their sponsored trips out into town.

Answer#3: Safer than NY

Answer#4: Yea there is, but it's a wonderful place to visit! Just have fun have no worries!

Answer#5: High all over the Island
