Question: Please help. Looking to visit a Caribbean destination where my $ will go a long way.....?
Question Description:
Trying to find a nice island/country to visit in
August with my 14 year old son. We've done Jamaica
several times...love it but looking for something
new. We did Belize last summer..loved it! Looking
into Puerto Rico but wondering if too Americanized
and if my dollar will go a long way there. We
don't do resorts or big hotels due to the price.
Looking for some jammin reggae, roots and culture,
friendly locals, little cabanas on the beach for
little $, adventure, snorkeling, ect..... Looking
to stay a few weeks and spending as little as
possible for clean/safe accomodations so we can
strech our visit out. Also, we like to travel
around the country and stay in a few different
places. Please Help! Thanks

Answer#1: Antigua is GREAT and if you loved Jamaica and
Belize then be prepared to be totally satisfied in
Antigua. If you visit in early August (the first
week) that is the time of our annual Carnival
Celebration. We have festitivies to celebrate our
freedom from slavery. To back up what I'm proposing
go to http://www.adventureantigua.com/...
and http://www.antiguanice.comfor info on
our carnival celebrations go here http://www.antiguacarnival.com/
Answer#2: Try Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It's a
very festive, Hispanic speaking Caribbean island,
home to meringue music and spicy food. It's also
full of powder white beaches with towering palm
trees. Resorts are plentiful and beautiful but
also very inexpensive. A dollar goes along way
there. I've been there twice and loved it. It's
also very easy to get in and out of because the
airport is one of the largest, busiest and best
connected airports in the region.
Answer#3: Go To Haiti. I just went there last week with
four of my friends for spring Break, it was
Beautiful. We went to Labadee, Haiti. My friends
and I choose it because we wanted to do something
different and new. because It's not like everyday
you hear people going to Haiti for spring break.
It was beautiful, clean, safe, exiting, and
affordable. One U.S. $ worth more than $20.00
Haitian dollars. great creole food, night clubs,
and not to mention the clean blue water beaches.
Now all of our other friends got nothing on us. we
had the best time ever. We so want to go back Good
Luck
Answer#4: Nevis its everything ur looking for and u will
have all of that in one it will be something
different for the entire family http://www.nevisisland.com
Answer#5: You may want to look at Bookit.com. The website
has specials on all inclusive resorts in that
area. The prices weren't too bad either. The best
way to get a great deal is to try to book close to
a year in advance. Then you get a long time to pay
for it, and can spend more that you usually would
because there are payments and not a one time lump
sum
Answer#6: Cuba, just make sure that you can pull-off a
canadian accent and buy a separate flight from
mexico city to enter the country.
Answer#7: How about Isla de Mujeres, Mexico. It's in the
Cancun orbit, a quick flight from Houston and the
weather is god. August is not a very good time
because of Hurricane season.
Answer#8: st. thomas
Answer#9: Look into the Dominican Republic. Samana
penninsula. Come in through Puerto Plata.
