Question: Virgin Islands or Hawaii a better choice for a summer (May-July, flexible) destination wedding site?
Question Description:
We are deciding on a place to have our destination
wedding/honeymoon. I've never been to either, and
I am wanting opinions from those who have
travelled to both as to which would be a better
choice. Take weather, quality of beaches/resorts,
activities, dining, etc into account when
answering. Most likely, we will have the wedding
at a resort, so specific resorts you would
recommend that you have ACTUALLY stayed at would
be awesome! Thanks for your help.

Answer#1: I would use weather.com/weddings. You can find
historical weather, averages, honeymoon spots.
There's even a sunset calculator so you can figure
out what time to have the ceremony. It's really
helpful!
Answer#2: For me it would depend where I departed from. The
east coast, it would be St John in the Virgin
islands. If I lived on the west coast, it would be
Hawaii. The month of May is a great month to get
married. If you live in the middle of USA, than I
would have to go with my budget , how many guests,
hotel expense, airfare etc.St John has some
beautiful villas to rent. A beach wedding if that
is your style is perfect in St John. The beaches
are awesome. Good Luck and Congratulations.
Answer#3: Virgin Island
Answer#4: I've been to Hawaii (various islands) three times
and to St. Thomas. Both are gorgeous and both
have excellent weather, resorts and activities.
Both would probably be equal in terms of expense.
However, I'd stick with Hawaii. I was amazed at
some of the poor areas in St. Thomas and the roads
were very crowded when I was there (in April).
I'd do Hawaii and plan on the VI another time.
Good luck!
Answer#5: I would go to weather.com/weddings. You look up
averages, historical weather, they even have a
sunset calculator. It's really helpful and you can
track your weather down to the big day. Good luck!
Answer#6: I have a cousin that lives in the Virgin Islands
and I was just in Hawaii two years ago in June. I
would definitely recommend the Gran Wailea Resort
in Maui for a destination wedding. This place is
unbelievable, great restaurants extremely clean
and lots to do. The only drawback that I can see
with it is the enormous size. If that does not
bother you than I would check it out. If you are
looking for a place a bit more personal try the
Fairmont Orchid on The Big Island of Hawaii..much
more romantic and quiet. There is also great
snorkeling on the beach right out front with tons
of green sea turtles. I would highly reccomend
both!Hope this helps...good luck!
