Question: My fiance and I want to go to the Carribeans for our honeymoon in January. Any island or resort suggestions?

Question Description:
I just tried that for St. Lucia, very helpful, than you.

Answer#1: My husband and I went to Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica for our honeymoon, and it was fabulous. They treat you like kings and queens. They have several restaurants and bars, pools, the ocean, watersports, activities. You can do as little or as much as you want there. But I can tell you that it rains every day between 3 - 5, which is just enough time to go back to your room for a little nap (or whatever). This is the resort joke. Congrats to you both and I am sure you will pick the perfect place.

Answer#2: Roatan or Guanaja . They are small islands that are not that crowded. Delta or Continental fly to Roatan. They have nice hotels which are not as expensive as the chain hotels.

Answer#3: I highly recommend Barbados, if you want all-inclusive package, try Silver Sands Resort. But I think you might be interested in other places that offer wedding/honeymoon/romantic vacations and/or packages.

Answer#4: If you want to be around lots of people go to any big resort on any island, it won't make a difference. If you want privacy look at "vacation rental homes" and list things like Bahamas and look at different islands. Eleuthera is the type of island where you could rent a house for a week and have a beach all to yourself. I mean probably see no one but each other. But you have to rent a car from a local and buy your own groceries. That could be completely romantic. Tahiti is the coolest place in the world for a honeymoon on Bora Bora or Huahine and stay in a little bungalow over the water or on the beach. Rent a little boat and spend the day on a deserted island (they call them Motu's). Again, not very crowded. Friendly people. Jamaica is high crime, St Lucia the people are miserable with 50% unemployment and you would be crazy to drive a car there. Too much poverty to make it much fun. Turks and Caicos and rent a condo for a week on 12 mile Grace Beach and that is beautiful and the water will be warmer than the Bahamas in January. No nightlife but gorgeous water and the beach is extremely nice.

Answer#5: Congrats on your Engagement! As far as suggestions on islands/resorts there are so many different possibilities that honestly I can't even recommend one for you because all of these places are going to cater towards different types of travelers. I would highly recommend working with a travel specialist who can ask you various questions in order to help determine where they feel you will have the most memorable honeymoon, all while staying within your budget (if possible). Recommendations aren't bad, but yet what say your neighbors might like, you might not at all! I mean a Honeymoon is a once in a lifetime experience, you want to make sure it's right!Like any job, some agents unfortunately aren't good ones. Usually in just speaking with one you can tell if they are knowledgeable or pleasant to work with even. If one isn't both of those things, contact another because working with one that you like as well really can make the experience more fun even in planning. If you are doing online searching, be careful that I can tell from much experience that even on "official" websites a hotel may say they are a 5 star luxury, but yet be more like a 3 star. There is no one that really regulates this so online isn't always the best form for accurate information. The nice thing is that Jan. is a beautiful time to travel to the Caribbean. I'm unsure of where your departure city is as far as flight times, but that might be a deciding factor depending. As some cities you can get there earlier in the day, others all day travel, others red eye flights.Definitely though if you haven't already applied for your passport, I would do that ASAP to avoid paying an expedite fee in the future. Hey that is extra money that can go towards a tour or spa treatment! Please let me know if there is anything further I can do for you, otherwise I wish you the best of luck!

Answer#6: Just in case you have not thought of this yet...you will need passports...and it is taking MORE than 4 months to get them now...so need to apply very soon. hope you find the perfect spot.

Answer#7: St. Lucia is a very beautiful island. I also recommend Barbados or St. Thomas. They're all nice islands, with lots to do and see and the locals are friendly.

Answer#8: I love going to my travel site and looking at the islands in the Caribbean.Go to www.BestChoiceTravels.com and go to the bottom of the page. Click on Nassau, Bahamas. You will see a map of all the islands. You can click on each island and see what they have to offer.
