Question #45: Anyone been on the Carnival Glory?
I am going to the Eastern Caribbean next year, and have never been on a Conquest class ship before. I have been told that you can never go back to a smaller ship after this. Is this true?

Answer: No it's not true. It absolutely depends on the ship, the type of cruise and the geographic location.I personally love ships in the 50,000 - 70,000 ton category where there are 1500 to 1900 passengers. I have also been on the new Freedom of the Seas - the biggest ship ever built at 148,000 tons. It's just too big! The Glory is 110,000 tons and carries almost 3000 passengers.Earlier this year I went to the Galapagos on the Celebrity Xpedition - like a private yacht - its less than 3000 tons, and only accommodates 90 guests. It was the best cruise we ever took!My advice is to find an itinerary and life style that appeals to you, call a travel agent, and enjoy.

Question #48: Has anyone traveled on the Carnival Conquest? Any tips?
I am nervous about going on Carnival as I have heard lots of bad things. I have only cruised Royal Caribbean and Princess. Can you bring wine on board? Do they have soda cards? What excursions do you recommend? Any insider advice would be helpful. Thanks! Also, what are the extra charges on this cruise. Example: how much are buckets of beer? Coke cards? Do they allow you to bring wine on board?

Answer: I travelled on the Liberty which is the same class. Wine - yes, a small amount. Soda cards - yes for $40.00. Advice - put your towel on the beach chair at about 6:00 am if you want a chair.

Question #49: We are taking a Caribbean cruise in Sept. on Carnival. What are the the average costs of shore excursions?
Of course, I am sure that excursions like "swimming with the dolphins" are going to cost much more than a regular tour of some place, but I just wanted to get a little idea of how much extra money we'd have to shell out if we wanted to get off the ship at all 4 ports!??By the way, are scheduled ports of call (pending any hurricanes!!!) are Nassau, Casa Maya, Cozumel and Belize. And I've been to cruisecritic.com which has been very helpful, but I thought I would try this question on here too and see if any of you had any helpful info. Thanks!

Answer: I can't speak for Carnival, or for even paying for the excursions myself. I usually went with my wife's family, and they insisted on paying for everything (we went on Royal Caribbean usually).Yes, I know, I've been spoiled by such a wonderful family, and I'm not complaining one bit.All I do know is that you can save money by booking with local companies instead, but then you take that risk that you may night get back to your ship on time. For your first cruise, I would probably suggest booking through Carnival since you are just kind of "learning the ropes". Better be safe than sorry, although it probably wouldn't be a horrible thing to be left behind in the Bahamas!!

Question #50: Visa requirements for Caribbean cruise to Mexico?
I know this question has been asked on this forum, but I wasn't able to get any confirmation of what the actual visa requirements were for foreign nationals (from India & UK) visiting the US and wanting to take a cruise to Mexico (Cozumel and Progresso). Does anybody have any additional information on this?I checked with the cruise line (Carnival) as some people suggested, and they just said that I would have to check with the Mexican consulates in UK and India. The consulate in UK said that you would "probably" not need a visa, but to be on the safe side, you should obtain a double-entry visa. The consulate in India said that it does not issue visas for cruises to Mexico, and that the necessary travel documents could be obtained at the port (in Mexico, I'm guessing). So, although I have received answers from various sources, I haven't received a definite answer from anybody.Could somebody who has actually been in this situation (or similar) tell me if they needed visas? ThanksI was just told by the consulates in Florida and Texas that there are no Mexican visa requirements for cruises. This applies to all nationalities.
