Questions & Answers about Bermuda Cruise

Question #1: Do any cruise line do all inclusive with booze??? What's the best for a crowd in their 20's??
5 Recent College grads looking for something all inclusive to either bermuda or carribean....

Answer: YES -- some cruise lines DO include alcoholic beverages....With a cruise you can expect superb accommodation, facilities and food and drink that are offered to cruise guests. If you enjoy an alcoholic beverage your pre-paid cruise quite often will also include alcohol, but more than likely only on the big name cruise ships. As with all complete cruise packages you are advised to always check exactly what is included with each and every package before you book, however. Some of the cruise companies will ask you to pay for alcoholic drinks, while all others are free. If you do have alcohol included in your complete cruise package remember to drink responsibly. There is nothing worse than a drunken fool on your cruise.More info:

Question #2: Where can I find a good cruise on or after August 17, 2008?
I get married next year, August 16, 2008, and I want to book a cruise for our honeymoon. The only ones I have found are to the Caribbean and Bermuda. I don't mind, but I'd like to go on a cruise that is a bit longer than 6 nights. Can anyone give me a good website to go on? Thanks.

Answer: There are hundreds of options for you. I will give you advice based on MY experiences. First you need to book early as all of the cruise lines give early booking discounts. So right now is not too early and most cruise lines have their cruises on line right now for 2008 and some 2009 cruises.Second, be somewhat flexible with your dates that you go on a cruise. The week of August 17 through 23 next year may sound wonderful because you get married and go the next day on a honeymoon. But the best price may be 2, 3, or 4 weeks or a couple months later. Just be aware of that and be flexible. We did an Alaska cruise-tour on Princess for our honeymoon several years ago but we went a month after our wedding. That gave us time to settle down wedding chores and not be rushed to catch a flight and ship. We thus enjoyed our cruise more.Third you need to shop around the cruise line web sites, even if you eventually use a travel agent for the booking. You can do your own booking right online, I do it all of the time. The cruise lines have everything that you need right on their web sites.OK, where to go:One option for a cruise that is 7 or more days is Alaska. The Alaska cruise season is from May to Sept. The weather is generally warmer in June, July and Aug, but it can also be pleasant in May and Sept. When we went a few years ago in May it was shirt sleeve weather (70's) in Anchorage and Fairbanks. The best Alaska cruise experience is the CRUISE-TOUR. Princess, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean all run cruise tours which take you by train all the way to Fairbanks, Alaska. Princess and RC have special domed train cars for this. Your best chance to see wild animals will be if you do a cruise-tour where you go further north after cruising the inside passage. The Mediterranean and/or Baltic:You can get 7, 12 and 14 day cruises and the August September time frame would be a good time for either. RC, Celebrity, Princess, Carnival and Norwegian all run cruises on both itineraries.Canada & New England:This itinerary is available on several cruie lines in the fall. We went on a RC ship, the Jewel of the Seas last year and it was a great cruise and the ship is fabulous.Below are some cruise line web sites. I have been on Many cruise, most on Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. My recommendation, based on my experiences, would be Royal Caribbean, Princess or Celebrity. The others are Ok but I think these three are tops.

Question #8: Never been on a cruise and I have questions!?
I am a 29 year old male and I want to treat myself to a cruise for my 30th birthday in January. I live in the DC metro area and I have quick access to Balitmore, MD. I would like to take a cruise from there to Bermuda (and back). I have no idea where to look and what to look for. I will be going by myself and don't care for formal gatherings (I'd rather wear shorts the entire time I'm there). I am looking to relax more than anything. Any suggestions? Personal experiences would be great too.

Answer: That time of year, you might not be able to wear shorts-check the weather in Bermuda in January. My suggestion would be book thru a cruise line, you get the best airfares thru them when booking packages and if the plane is late, you don;t have to worry about getting to the ship-they arrange that. I would suggest leaving from FL that time of year and doing a Carnival cruise-3 or 4 days to the Bahamas..............Carnival is geared to a younger crowd and less formal than other lines. You don't have to go formal, unless you eat in the dining room and then most nights a pair of slacks and a shirt, sweater will work...................except for the formal night and you can skip the meal in the DR and eat in one of the many other places on board.

Question #9: NCL - passport required to Bermuda?
We're going on a cruise to Bermuda on Norwegian cruise line next month. I have something from Norwegian saying a passport is required , but according to the passport website, one is not needed for a cruise only for air.Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

Answer: Many cruise lines choose to require a passport. It is their choice. You can apply for a passport now, and if it will not arrive before your trip, you may travel with the proof of your application if you follow the directions for the "flexibility" program at travel.state.gov. You could also call the cruise line and specifically ask them about this due to the huge backlog on passports at this time.

Question #10: Are there last minute discounts on cruise lines? Norwegian to Bermuda from Boston?
When I was in Florida our taxi cab driver mentioned that if we arrived early in Tampa and the ship was not full they had reduced rates for last minute travelers. Does that happen in Boston as well on the Norwegian line to Bermuda??? Thanks all.

Answer: None of the cruise lines, in any service, want to send the vessel out with empty cabins. I believe that you can have your name put on a list for just such a circumstance, but you will have to be able and willing to sail with no more than a day or two notice.Another way to get a discount is to agree to spend a certain amount of time during the cruise socializing with other passengers, especially singles and especially during dances. Though it occurs to me that it may generally be extra men that they would need for this.
